Packers season ticket prices increase by between $1 and $6 per game

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers raised ticket prices for 2019, but unlike recent years, the increases are not uniform across the board.

The Packers this year used a demand-based approach similar to those employed by other NFL teams. In other words, the best seats had larger increases. Tickets increased between $1 and $6 per game, with the cost of more than half of Lambeau Field's seats increasing $1 or $2.

At $142, seats between the 20 yard lines cost $6 more per game for regular season, but $1 more for preseason. For Green package holders with six regular-season games and one preseason game, that means an increase of $37 per seat for the season. Last year's across-the-board increase was $44 for all Green package holders.

Twins Desmond and Christian Abel, then four, were on the Green Bay Packers' Fan Appreciation Game tickets in December 1016.

The cost for Gold Package buyers, with two regular-season games and one in the preseason, increases $13 for the season, compared to $16 last year.

At 3.1 percent, the average increase is the smallest in 10 years.

The Packers have about 38,000 season-ticket accounts, including Green and Gold package holders, and a waiting list of about 133,000.

“This pricing increase continues our practice of keeping our prices just below the middle of NFL pricing, while recognizing the value of the gameday experience at Lambeau Field and providing shared revenue to our fellow NFL teams,” Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said in a letter to season-ticket holders.

This marks the 10th consecutive season prices increased. Ticket prices were not raised from 2007 through 2009 and the Packers fell to near the bottom of the NFL in average ticket price. Other NFL teams were not pleased, reasoning that because the Packers sell out every game and have a long waiting list, they should charge more. Visiting teams receive a share of ticket revenue.

The Green Bay Packers raised season-ticket prices an average of 3.1 percent for 2019, but individual increases varied, with sideline tickets going up more than end zone tickets. Overall, increases were less than last year.

Season-ticket holders can lock in lower-cost playoff tickets should the Packers host a wild-card playoff game at Lambeau Field. Under the "Pay as We Play" option, fans will not be charged for those tickets unless the team plays, but they must commit to buying seats in advance. Prices range from $100 to $128.

The Packers failed to make the playoffs the last two years, after nine consecutive playoff appearances.

Gold package ticket holders also can commit to wild-card tickets when they pay for season tickets. Green package ticket holders will continue to have first crack, with Gold package holders getting unclaimed seats.

Ticket holders are asked to register for playoff tickets as early as possible, but by Aug.16 at the latest.

Paper tickets still will be sent to all season-ticket holders in July, and if they sell those seats, they can give the paper tickets to the buyers. Otherwise, all tickets must be forwarded electronically.

Tickets forwarded electronically to others or sold via Ticketmaster (NFL Exchange) now will be scanned on smartphones as the only way to enter the stadium. A number of teams have adopted the mobile ticket option to varying degrees. The Packers say mobile tickets reduce counterfeit tickets.

Payment for packages must be made by March 30.
