By the numbers: How Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s amazing run stacks up in NFL history

GREEN BAY – For weeks, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been progressing faster than almost anybody could have predicted.

Now he has the numbers to prove just how exceptional he has been.

Over his past nine games, including the Packers’ 48-32 NFC wild-card victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Love has completed 212 of 300 passes (70.7%) for 2,422 yards and 21 touchdowns with one interception (116.6 rating).

Only Drew Brees (2018) and Matt Ryan (2016-’17) have also thrown for 2,400-plus yards, 21-plus touchdowns with one or fewer interceptions and a completion percentage of at least 70% over any nine-game span.

Love’s last performance resulted in a 157.2 rating, which is exactly the same as what Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud posted in his first playoff game against the Cleveland Browns last weekend, tying them for the top rating in a quarterback’s first playoff start (minimum 15 pass attempts), according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Love and Stroud tied for the third-highest quarterback rating (minimum 20 pass attempts) in a playoff game in NFL history behind Josh Allen (157.6 in a 2021 wild-card game) and Peyton Manning (158.3 in a 2003 wild-card game), according to Elias.

Here are some other notable numbers regarding Love and his recent play:

• Over his past three games, Love has completed 77.9% of his passes.
• In his past four games, he has completed 84 of 113 passes (74.34%) for 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions for a passer rating of 138.4.
• He was tied for No. 1 in the league in games with three-plus passing touchdowns and zero interceptions in the 2023 regular season.
• He has thrown zero interceptions when the Packers are leading, 10 when they are trailing.
• He posted a 100-plus passer rating in 10 games during the regular season, tied for No. 2 in the NFL behind only Dallas’ Dak Prescott (11).
• His 32 passing touchdowns were the fourth most by a quarterback in his first season with multiple starts, trailing Patrick Mahomes (50 in 2018), Kurt Warner (41 in 1999) and Daunte Culpepper (33 in 2000).
• He has thrown 22 touchdowns on the road and 13 at home, including playoffs.
• He finished No. 3 in the NFL in completions of 30-plus yards this season with 27. It was the most completions of 30-plus yards by a Packers quarterback since Rodgers recorded 27 during his MVP season of 2020.
• He was one of four quarterbacks (Prescott, Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield) to rank in the top 10 in the league this season in passing touchdowns (No. 2), passing yards (No. 7) and TD/INT ratio (No. 7, 2.91).
• He has 106.6 passer rating when under center and 93.4 in shotgun, according to Pro Football Reference.
• When the Packers ran play action in the regular season, Love’s passer rating was 115.5, according to Pro Football Reference.  He has thrown seven touchdowns with two interceptions. When it hasn’t been play action, his rating is 91.4 with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
