Clubhouse Live livestream replay: Packers’ Aaron Rodgers makes memorable guest appearance

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right) appears on Clubhouse Live on Dec. 10, 2012, at The Clubhouse Sports Pub & Grill in downtown Appleton. Then-Packers tight end Tom Crabtree (left) co-hosted the show.

It took a scraggly mustache for Clubhouse Live to land its biggest guest.

The ’stache was courtesy of Tom Crabtree, the tattooed former Green Bay Packers tight end who served as our show’s original co-host during the 2012 season.

He decided to grow it as a way to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues. And he pledged to keep it for a full year if teammate Aaron Rodgers would agree to appear on the show as his guest – even if it meant some incessant, but good-natured, heckling.

The Packers’ MVP quarterback and future Hall of Famer said deal, and he not only delighted the capacity crowd that crammed into the Clubhouse Sports Pub & Grill in downtown Appleton on Dec. 10, 2012, but he also helped raise over $8,600 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation — Crabtree's charity — through a ticket sale, auction and raffle.

The audience serenaded Rodgers with MVP chants when he took the stage. Later, he agreed to sign a large mural that still hangs behind the bar.

And in between, he and Crabtree talked football while also exchanging some lighthearted barbs.

For example, when asked to rate Crabtree’s mustache, Rodgers quickly quipped: “It’s pretty bad.”

The award-winning Clubhouse Live is produced by USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin and held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. during the Packers’ season. The show is hosted by a current Packers player, who brings a teammate as his weekly guest.

Our 12th season is scheduled to kick off in August. Look for more information on the show’s Facebook page at facebook.com/clubhouselive.

Enjoy this look back at our livestream coverage of Rodgers’ inaugural and memorable visit to the show. He also made an appearance in 2014 as the guest of then-Packers fullback and Clubhouse Live host John Kuhn.

In the meantime, our USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin stream team will continue to sift through past Clubhouse Live and Varsity Game of the Week prep livestreams so we can bring you occasional replays of the shows and matchups we deem classics.
