FANS

2 brothers. One a Packers fan. One a Cowboys fan. And one viral moment between them that lit up the internet during Sunday's playoff game.

It's been a whirlwind couple of days for two young boys − one a Green Bay Packers fan, the other a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Caleb, 7 1/2, and his brother, Sullivan, 6, attended the NFC wild-card game Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium with their parents, Caleb and Ashley Turzinski. The family, formerly of Wisconsin Dells, now lives in Georgetown, Texas, about 170 miles south of the stadium.

Mom, Dad and Sullivan are Packers fans. Young Caleb cheers for the Cowboys.

Caleb has been a Cowboys fan since the family moved from Wisconsin Dells to Texas about four years ago, his dad said.

"We were just sitting there watching the game and hanging out," Caleb Turzinski said.

Caleb Turzinski, 7 1/2, left, and his brother Sullivan, 6, attended the NFC wild-card game between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at AT&T Stadium with their parents Ashley and Caleb Turzinski, of Georgetown, Texas, and formerly of Wisconsin Dells. The brothers have received a lot of attention since the game for a moment that was captured during the television broadcast.

Then, that all changed.

Just moments before halftime, Packers safety Darnell Savage had intercepted a pass by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and returned the ball 64 yards for a touchdown, which gave the Packers a 27-0 lead.

As the cameras panned to the crowd to show delighted Packers fans cheering and celebrating and disheartened Cowboys fans, they captured a brief moment of two young boys seated next to each other − one, wearing a Packers jersey with a wide toothy grin in his moment of celebration; the other boy, wearing a Cowboys jersey, seemingly crying in his mom's lap.

The internet erupted with commentary about the moment, with people questioning on X (formerly Twitter) the relationship between the boys and others commenting that the moment was bound to become "an instant meme." Within minutes, Charlie Berens of Manitowoc Minute fame shared a photo of the image from the FOX broadcast on his social media pages with the caption: A picture worth a thousand curds #GoPackGo. Nearly 10,000 fans reacted there as well.

The boys were Caleb and Sullivan. But they didn't know what was happening right away.

Turzinski, a Wisconsin Rapids native and 2002 graduate of Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids, was waiting in the concession line during halftime when he started getting text messages from "my old buddies" about the video and photos, he said, "friends from back home that I hadn't talked to in so long."

"When I showed the boys, they couldn't believe it," he said.

Sullivan said his expression in the viral moment was him realizing, "we were gonna win," he told a USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin reporter Tuesday night.

Caleb, on the other hand, said it was at that moment, when the Cowboys were down 27-0, that he knew "we are totally gonna lose."

Caleb Turzinski, 7 1/2, slumped over in his mom, Ashley's, lap after Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage intercepted a pass by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and returned the ball 64 yards for a touchdown, which gave the Packers a 27-0 lead, during the NFC wild-card game on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. Caleb has been a Cowboys fan since his family moved from Wisconsin Dells to Georgetown, Texas, about four years ago.

And that's when he slumped over into his mom's lap.

"I think there were real tears," his dad said. "But, what a game to be at."

The family is just taking it all in and enjoying all of the excitement.

"It's been a pretty wild 48 hours, for sure," Turzinski said.

Turzinski said the boys didn't have school on Monday, so they spent the entire day watching different sports programs to watch for their video and photo to appear.

"They love SportsCenter, and they couldn't believe that they were on SportsCenter," he said.

Their school gym teacher called the boys, and some of their friends at school didn't believe them when they told them about their exciting weekend when they returned to class on Tuesday, their dad said.

"It's great," Turzinski said. "These are my two little buddies to watch football with."

But, the boys can't agree on any sports teams to root for, except the Milwaukee Bucks.

"It's just crazy," their dad said. "They just can't like the same things."

The family is looking forward to a quieter (and less eventful) Packers game this weekend when the team takes on the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Levi's Stadium.

When asked if they would all be cheering for the Packers this weekend, Caleb said in addition to being a Cowboys fan, he is also a 49ers fan. Turzinski said Caleb even dressed up as San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for Halloween this year.

So while the rest of the family cheers on the Packers, Caleb will be rooting for his team and hoping for a better outcome.

"I already told him he might not be happy with the final score," Turzinski joked.
